Surroundings: cross with flowers, pink curtains, pink ties, hard white walls, curved fans, small mirrors, blue vases
This scene is very specific when describing the contrast between blue and pink, which can mean a lot of different things. Nowadays, we know blue and pink as boy and girl and we think that it is important to emphasize the clash of the two opposites. This is why we decided to include the blue vases. The scene tends to get awkward many times and we want for it to look as uncomfortable as it can. We tried to stick with the original set design as described in the script but decided to go our own way when it came to the “hard white” walls. We thought we didn’t need to make it so dramatic so we painted the walls to look a very dirty beige color which reminds us a little of clay. The reason we did this is because after researching life in Andalucia, it seemed that this type of setting would make the most sense.
